Two-time Formula 1 champion Mika Hakkinen spoke about Max Verstappen`s message to Sergio Perez at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.


Verstappen disobeyed Red Bull`s orders and did not return the position to his team-mate. According to Hakkinen, Max reminded Sergio of certain events in the past.


According to the Dutch press, Perez deliberately crashed into the barriers in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, which prevented Verstappen from improving his time.


We had team orders when I was racing. Before the Grand Prix, a plan was drawn up on how to act in certain situations.


Max, of course, is a driver, like everyone else in F1, he doesn`t live in the moment. He remembers what happened yesterday and is focused on the future. When the team gave him the order for Perez to earn points, he maintained his position because he remembered that same yesterday - Max [said: ] no way, the hour of reckoning had come.


I don`t think it`s just that the driver is just very selfish: I don`t care, I just want to achieve the maximum result, nothing else matters. And I don`t care about my partner. The point is what happened this year between him and Cheko. He received a lot of criticism, but following command orders is a very important factor.


At the moment, Max is a two-time world champion, he is faster than Checo. The team knows they need a pilot named Max. They need it. Cheko currently cannot win the title, unlike Max, " Mika said.


Verstappen`s action does not mean that Max will not help his partner at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, says Hakkinen:


The last race is a completely different matter, in my opinion. I don`t think Checo is in a position in the team right now where he can`t perform at the same level or even be faster than Max. This is a constant psychological battle, among other things.


Cheko helped Max in the past in some Grand Prix events. I wonder if Max will help him in the final via asian livescore race. We don`t know what will happen in the future, how the race will develop. But if a situation arises in which Max can help Checo, then I`m sure he will do it.
