Chelsea intend to strengthen their midfield before the winter transfer window closes.


According to The Guardian, manager Graham Potter wants Chelsea to strengthen the midfield.


The London club are planning to make a new offer for the transfer of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, whose contract includes a release clause of 120 million euros. The Portuguese will not release the midfielder in case of a lower offer.


Chelsea have previously made a ?55m (about EUR62. 5m) offer for Brighton midfielder Moyess Caicedo, but were turned down. Londoners can improve the offer. Brighton are looking for a player to replace Caicedo if he leaves.


Despite interest in Caicedo, Fernandez remains a possible option for Chelsea. Sources say talks on Enzo will continue this week. Benfica, who reached the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, intends to keep the player. Enzo has made it clear to the club on numerous occasions that he wants to move to Chelsea.
